BRIAN Flynn is in no rush to discuss a new contract - even if he guides the club to promotion as early as this weekend.
If results go their way, Doncaster could be promoted back to the Championship at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.
Rovers hope to extend their seven-point cushion between themselves and third place against Carlisle United at the Keepmoat Stadium tonight.
And Flynn, who has never won a league title as a manager, maintains that his own future is way down on his list of priorities.
Flynn said: “I took the contract on knowing it finished on April 28. I’m quite comfortable with that. I said that from day one.
“Let’s look at it at that particular time. I’m happy to do that. Some managers only get ten games.
“It’s a unique position for me [chasing promotion] and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
“I’ve had promotions in the past but never gone up as champions. It’s something that I’m relishing and focusing all my energy on.
“The closer you get, people say the harder it becomes,” he added.“I agree with that in a way, but we just have to stay calm.
“We’ve done some chasing this season, and we’ve done it well. Now we’re on top and I’m confident we’ll stay there.”
Flynn has no fresh injury worries for tonight but is taking nothing for granted against Greg Abbott’s Carlisle, who virtually guaranteed their survival with a win at Oldham on Saturday.
“It’ll be a different type of game for us against Carlisle,” said Flynn.
“They’ll come here in a relaxed state of mind, whereas Swindon and Tranmere had more to lose.
“So there’s a different element tonight.
“Greg’s done well with a limited budget,” he added.
“It looked like they were struggling but they’ve turned it round. They’ve got some good young players and there’s no pressure on them whatsoever.
“For us it’s a case of more of the same please. We’re very close to achieving what we set out to do and I expect us to sprint over the finish line.”
