Paul Dickov has confirmed an interest in signing former Manchester City midfielder Abdul Razak.
Doncaster’s boss said at his pre-match press conference conversations had taken place about the 22-year-old Ivorian but Rovers face competition for his signature.
Razak is currently playing for Greek side OFI Crete after leaving City for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013.
Dickov said: “Abdul’s a player I’ve watched for a long time and he is a player I rate really highly.
“We’ve had conversations about doing it. Whether it can be done or not, we don’t know.
“If it’s something we could manage to do, I believe we’d be getting a player who would be fantastic in this league.
“He’s a Premier League player and for whatever reason he has had to go abroad.
“When you’re looking at a player like that, there’s always other clubs involved as well.
“We’ve had conversations but that is as far as it’s gone.”
Razak left West Ham last January after failing to make an appearance for the Hammers.
During his time in England he had loan spells at Portsmouth, Brighton and Charlton.
Speaking about possible incomings this January, Dickov added: “We’re looking. We’re speaking to a few people at the minute.
“Whether we’ll be able to do those deals in the near future, I don’t know.
“We’re in conversations with one or two people about hopefully getting them in.”
