Harry Forrester says he would relish the chance to become Doncaster’s diamond geezer.
The 23-year-old recently lost his place in the side to Kyle Bennett.
Forrester told The Star he is still not certain what his best position is - but also that he would jump at the chance to play at the tip of a midfield diamond or as a secondary striker.
Forrester said: “To be totally honest I’m not entirely sure yet what my best position is.
“I like playing at the tip of a diamond, in a number ten role. But I’m happy on either wing as well. I think I’m quite flexible in that respect.
“Last season when I broke into the team after my injuries I played off Browny as a second striker, so I don’t think I’m limited.
“I can play on the left or right too. Being right-footed there’s a different job to be done on each side. On the left I can cut in and shoot, on the right it’s more about getting it out of your feet and crossing it.”
Forrester could well be handed the chance to impress in tonight’s South Yorkshire derby at Oakwell, although Bennett would be somewhat unfortunate to lose his place after impressing in recent games.
Forrester missed a big chunk of last season through injury but says he has now regained his match sharpness.
He said: “It took a while for me to get up to match fitness - sharpness more than anything. When you’re out for such a long time you lose a bit of instinct. Things aren’t where they seem!
“But I’ve had six months back in training and it’s just about performances now.”
