Epworth Colts under-13s suffered a 5-1 defeat at Wrawby last weekend in a game that was closer than the scoreline suggested.
After starting strongly, Colts were hit on the break and conceded the opening goal, which was quickly followed by a second, leaving the Colts with an uphill struggle.
However they responded well to going two goals behind and continued to pass the ball well.
Their possession led to a good team move which was rounded off by Matty Baldwin who slotted home to give Epworth hope.
With half-time fast approaching, Colts were caught out again and conceded to go into the break with the scoreline at 3-1.
Despite the Colts’ best efforts, Wrawby were able to run out 5-1 winners in a match Epworth will be disappointed to lose.
Crowle Colts under-11s played out an entertaining goalless draw with Winterton Rangers last weekend.
Despite both teams playing some good football, defence was the overall winner in a hard-fought game where both teams had to settle for a point.
Crowle Colts under-17s edged their game at Barton Juniors 2-1 despite having a large number of opportunities to establish a more commanding scoreline.
After a frustrating first half of missed chances, Crowle took the lead early in the second period.
It came after Morgan Clark lobbed the goalkeeper, only to see his goal-bound effort saved by the hands of the retreating defender on the line.
The referee awarded a penalty to Crowle and issued a booking to the Barton defender.
Clark then kept his cool and made no mistake with the spot-kick which finally meant Crowle had the lead they had been battling towards.
The advantage was doubled soon afterwards when Luke Cross smashed home from close range, before Barton managed a late consolation with a top corner strike.
Barton’s late goal wasn’t enough to prevent Crowle from claiming a deserved and important three points following their well-fought victory.
Epworth Belles gave away a 3-1 lead to lose 6-4 against GreenBank.
Despite going behind in the opening five minutes, Epworth raced ahead with three goals, going into the half 3-1 up.
However, GreenBank pushed hard to come back after the restart, restoring parity at 3-3.
Epworth later retook the lead and looked to push on from their 4-3 scoreline.
But the wheels seemingly came off as defensively the Belles let themselves down, allowing GreenBank to fire in three goals to take the victory from under the feet of Epworth.
Belles manager Nolan Elliott has urged his Epworth outfit to concentrate until the end.
He told the Bells: “Our ability in football at times is fantastic, we need to believe in ourselves that we can win.”
