Luke Crowcroft was left reeling after suffering the first defeat of his career.

The Scawthorpe super middleweight was edged out in a narrow points loss to the tough Darren McKenna over four rounds at the Dome on Saturday night.

Crowcroft started the fight in the perfect manner, keeping McKenna at bay with excellent use of the jab.

But from the second round onwards, he was drawn into a toe to toe battle, playing straight into McKenna’s hands.

The tough and aggressive McKenna increasingly had the edge and earned a 39-38 triumph.

Stainforth light middle Aston Jolly was held to a draw by debutant Danny Shannon in what was a finely balance contest throughout.

There was a well-deserved win for Denaby Main’s industrious super middle Adam Jones who claimed each of the four rounds against Liam Griffiths.

Jones showed controlled aggression throughout to secure a first win in eight fights and the third of his career.

The 21-year-old’s record does not reflect how competitive he has been, with much of his career spent as a testing away fighter.

Barnsley’s Wakefield exile Andy Townend claimed the vacant Central Area super featherweight title in devastating fashion with a seventh round stoppage against a game Sean Dodd.

Townend was happy to allow the Birkenhead fighter to come at him in the early rounds but stepped his efforts up considerably after the half way point with Dodd having no answer.
