Harry Forrester has vowed to come back stronger after suffering yet another injury setback.

The 23-year-old forward underwent knee surgery on Wednesday night after damaging his cartilage in training.

Forrester, who has started just three times since his summer switch from Brentford, now faces a mimimum six-week lay-off - ruling him out for the majority of the run-in.

And boss Paul Dickov has told the former Aston Villa trainee to focus on next season.

“Just to let the fans know, I have unfortunately picked up another injury (yes another one),” Forrester tweeted.

“I have injured my meniscus and had an op last night.

“All went well apparently. Such a frustrating season for me personally but time for me to get behind the boys and help them out in what way I can!

“Hopefully I can put a shirt on again this season, [if not] we certainly wont rush it this time. If not I owe you all a big season next year! I will come back stronger.”

Dickov revealed at Thursday’s press conference that Forrester’s latest injury came via a block tackle on the training ground.

“It’s a massive blow for Harry,” said Dickov.

“He must’ve run over ten black cats because he’s just been so unlucky with injuries.

“And it’s not been a case of constantly pulling a hamstring or groin. It has been innocuous, silly injuries.

“I’ve said to Harry, ‘your sole aim has to be to come back into pre-season training in the summer as fit as you can be’.

“We really have to look after him from now until the start of pre-season. Anything before that will be a bonus.”
