Forget Arsenal’s Invincibles, Crowle Colts u16s have given Arsene Wenger’s men a run for their money after finishing their league season unbeaten!
Twelve wins and two draws saw Mark Cross’s side clinch their C & M Alloy Division title with games to spare following a stunning league campaign.
They were not exactly shy in front of goal either, netting 65 times with just 16 against.
“Only dropping four points all season is fantastic,” said Cross - his second league title with the Colts.
“I would like to thank all of my players for a great season and offer a special thank you to Ray Foster and Shaun Tighe for helping me out at training and matches. John Bramhill, too, for refereeing all of our home games.”
Closest rivals Dale Park - who are currently 14 points behind with a game remaining - did manage to give the league champions a fright at the weekend, however.
With chances saved from Morgan Clark and an Oliver Brown free-kick going over, Crowle wondered if their luck would change in their clash with Dale Park.
Their pressure eventually paid dividends as Daniel Birkinshaw wriggled free in the area and tucked the ball past Park’s ‘keeper.
Luke Cross saw a looping header crash off the bar before Clark smashed an effort against the post.
Crowle were momentarily made to rue those missed chances as Park pounced to level.
As Harry Bramhill’s free-kick was saved along with chances falling to both Josh Tighe and Josh Broadbent, Crowle continued to press without success.
But a moment of brilliance between Tighe and Birkinshaw saw Cross slot in a delivery from the byline for 2-1.
With 13 minutes left to play, Park won a penalty which they duly dispatched leaving Crowle with it all to do for their 12th win of the season.
And with five minutes to go, Cross was clattered by the ‘keeper in the area and Clark nestled in the rebound for 3-2 - capping off a fine season.
