An Epworth running store has shown its support for an up and coming athlete by sponsoring his sports gear.

The Metres to Miles shop in Epworth’s High Street was the venue for runner Josh Jones to visit for athletics equipment.

And the store has offered its backing to the 17-year-old by helping him out with spikes for his next competition.

Julian Moorhouse, owner of the running shop, said: “He’s a great local talent and we’re pleased to be able to sponsor him with some spikes for his run at the National Inter Counties Championship XC.”

On Jones, a Barton-based athlete, Moorhouse told the Bells: “We like to support talent from the region and he’s a great prospect.

“He is certainly one to watch.”

Josh won the county cross country champs in Beverley earlier this month to qualify for the inter counties competition which are set to be held in Birmingham next month.

One of his ambitions for the year is to qualify for next year’s World Triathlon Championships in Switzerland.

n A breakfast running club meets every Saturday at 8.30am from the Metres to Miles shop for a jog or run.

The event, which regularly has 30 people or more, is free. Everyone is welcome.
