They might be eight points clear at the top following their 15th win of the season, but Clive Griffiths is keen for a better defensive display.
The director of rugby watched on as the Knights controlled their home tie against Cinderford, notching nine tries in a 62-28 victory.
However, despite Cinderford struggling to contain Doncaster’s robust and fluent attacks, they themselves still managed to take their chances with four touch downs of their own.
With National One league chasers Rosslyn Park losing to Blaydon 19-18 at the weekend, Griffiths is keen for the Knights to kick-on away to Fylde and make sure they are defensively stoic against their high-flying opponents.
“To score 62 points in a game and go eight clear is fantastic for us, but there’s always something to work on,” said the Welshman.
“Cinderford capitalised on our mistakes and they took every chance.
“We can’t be making those errors every week and giving away so many points.
“The league is effectively in our hands so we have to be better defensively because teams will come at us.
“Attacking-wise against Cinderford, we scored individual and team tries so that was great to watch.
“I’m sure it was good value for money for the crowd who were fantastic again, they certainly got their money’s worth.
“It was a beautiful playing surface too, not quite like the mudbath we had last week [against Worthing] so it was a great day for a game of rugby.
“This week we will look at the game again and analyse our performance to see where we can do better defensively.”
The Knights are aiming to be fully prepared when they take a trip to face Fylde - a side Doncaster had to battle hard against to secure a 29-24 victory at Castle Park back in October.
“We know they’re a very strong side, they’re a dangerous outfit,” the 59-year-old added.
“They have their special own brand of rugby which challenges you, but we’ve got the fitness levels needed for the game.”
