AT LONG last all scheduled games in the North Lindsey Cricket League were all played to a finish, albeit one or two were played on some very damp grounds around the county.
Division One
Champions Grimsby Town 3rds won a thriller at Augusta Street against last season’s runners up Caistor Cougars who made 229 for 6 when batting first thanks to 74 from Harry Boulton, 43 from Liam Wood and 37 not out from Tom Boryszczuk, Harry Warwick taking 3 for 62 for Grimsby and it was he who guided his team home with an unbeaten 117 from just 86 deliveries, aided by Brendan Volley who scored 43 and Town’s overseas player Johannes Diseko who made 42 in what was a last ball thriller.
Elsewhere at a still rather soggy Heslam Park visiting Outcasts posted a total of 104 for 7 when taking first knock, Josh Bramhill top scoring with 23 after which Matthew Teal added 21, Matt Pashley picking up 3 for 8 for Scunthorpe who replied by squeezing home by just one wicket, reaching 105 for 9, Ian Snowden hitting 35 whlst Tom Sharpe and Liam McAnaney took three wickets each for the Isle side.

Division Two
Division Two looks to have some strong contenders for promotion this season as indicated in the results today. Messingham 3rds hit the day’s top score of 219 for 7 thanks to an impressive 117 from Bridges and 60 from Mark Greenwood against his former club Alkborough, Jake Astle taking 3 for 64 for the visiting side who were then bowled out for 90 in reply whilst Cleethorpes 5ths opened their 2012 North Lindsey campaign with a 68 runs victory over newly promoted Misterton at Chichester Road where Simon Taylor hit an uneaten 64 in their total of 165 for 7 before Matt Owen picked up an excellent haul of 6 for 11 in Misterton’s all out total of 97.
Andy Genney’s Barton Town side won a tight match out on the Isle against Haxey who set a target of 96 all out thanks chiefly to Lewis Mann who hit 31 not out, McDermott taking 3 for 5 and Tom Palin 3 for 14 for the Humbersiders who squeaked home by two wickets with that man McDermott scoring 38 as Haxey’s Farr picked up 4 for 25 to keep Haxey in the hunt.
Cleethorpes 5ths v Misterton 2nds

Division Three
Luddington hosted new boys Blyth CC at their Park Lane ground and picked up a second straight victory against a plucky visiting team.
Andy Lawson hit his second successive half century in two games (59) added to by Darren Clark who reached 35 and Jamie Arrowsmith 28 as Ludd were bowled out for 160 but it was a day to remember for Blyth bowler Andy Toft who finished the innings with terrific figures of 7 for 46.
Blyth batted well in reply but were eventually dismissed for 56, Matt Mellers, Arron Curry and Rick Green all taking a couple of wickets apiece.
The one other game in Division Three saw Upton cum Kexby score 110 for 8 at home to Everton thanks chiefly to Martyn Snell who hit 33 but Peter Dobson made 60 not out and Eddie Campbell 44 as Everton eased to 111 for 1 to take their first points of the season.
