The return of international jet ski action to Doncaster can’t come quickly enough for Brad Rickaby after a productive weekend’s work at Lakeside.
Hatfield teenager Rickaby notched a win and third place finish in the fourth round of the JSRA British Championships, held on Saturday and Sunday.
The 19-year-old’s efforts were enough to maintain top spot on the Stock Championship leaderboard and also move to the summit of the GP class.
Rickaby will be back in action on home waters when Lakeside hosts the European Jet Ski Championships in August.
“It was a great weekend,” said Brad.
“I had a few mechanical problems but it’s nice to be leading both classes overall.
“The European round should be massive.”
Rickaby leapfrogged Phil Pope to assume control of the GP section with just two more rounds to go in the summer championships.
The five-time British champion was nominated for junior sports personality of the year at this year’s Doncaster Sports Awards.
Doncaster will host the European final on August 16, 17 and 18, an event which will attract more than 100 teams from throughout Europe and beyond.
