Paul Dickov expects answers from Rovers’ group of nine out of contract players by the end of next week.

Dickov revealed he has held ‘positive’ talks with all nine players and submitted new terms to their agents.

And he has demanded a yes or no answer from each before the squad reports back to Cantley Park for pre-season training on June 24.

“Before we start back on the 24th, definitely we will have answers from all of them,” Dickov said.

“All the conversations I’ve had with them have been very positive.

“They’ve all been spoken to and offers have gone out to each of them.

“It’s been difficult with me coming in a bit late and the players being away on holiday.

“But it has been a positive process.

“The players realised they are at a very good club that has stability and one that is going places.”

Kyle Bennett, Chris Brown, Andy Griffin, Paul Keegan, Jon Maxted, Paul Quinn, Tommy Spurr, Neil Sullivan and Liam Wakefield are all currently mulling over new deals.

Dickov sees one of his biggest priorities this pre-season is maintaining the much-lauded harmony in the squad from last season as he begins to add new faces.

But he insists every player in his squad must understand and accept his constant push for improvement.

He said: “It’s important the players who were here last season know they are appreciated.

“But it is also important we are raising the bar and setting a high standard.”
