Andrew Ward (Clowne) showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels in the Askern 10k road race on Wednesday night.
A previous winner of the race, Ward stormed to victory in a useful time of 30 minutes 59 seconds.
Leeds City’s James Smith (31.26) was runner-up with Rotherham’s James Smith (32.47) claiming third spot.
Doncaster Athletic Club’s Simon Wright, pictured, was fifth overall in the 500-plus field. His time of 33.22 also saw him finish first in the vet-45 category.
Other Doncaster Athletic Club runners to feature well included Dave Tune, 15th in a time of 35.21, Andy Siddle (35.29), who finished immediately behind him, Chris Moran (36.47) and Ian Micklethwaite (37.02), who came home 33rd and 37th respectively.
Mick Page, 53rd overall, was the first vet-60 runner to finish in a time of 38.21.
Askern’s Andy Goodair (36.01) flew the flag for the promoting club, finishing 21st.
Kirsteen Young (Leeds City) won the women’s race. Sarah Cumber (Halifax Harriers) was second with Barnsley’s Fiona Davies (Kingston) claiming third spot.
Karen Richards, who competed as a vet-50, was the first Doncaster runner to finish in 306th place overall.
