Netball: Shots too hot to handle for Epworth

The superior shooting of the aplty-named Hotshots proved too much for Epworth in their latest league encounter.

Epworth started strongly and by the end of the first quarter the scores were even. Captain Cheryl Atkinson and Erika Phoenix were the Isle club’s busiest players in defence throughout however.

Wingers Sophie Leggott and Laura Maxfield were also linking up the play well with Sarah Mason controlling the centre, but Hotshots barely missed a chance and gradually began to extend their lead.

Goal attack and shooter Lauren Kiddle and Kay Kiddle had to be on their best performances with Hotshots’ goalkeeper particularly in fine form.

That stringent defence saw Epworth reduced to long range efforts as Hotshots were strong and clinical in the attacking third, seeing out the match with a final winning score of 35-17.

The opposition awarded their player of the match to Sarah Mason.
