Andy Griffin is unlikely to play again this season - unless Rovers have to contend with an unwelcome drop into the play-offs.
The 34-year-old full back has torn his hamstring and is definitely out of Saturday’s final home game of the campaign against Notts County.
Brian Flynn has conceded that he will also probably have to do without the former Newcastle and Stoke defender at Brentford on the final day of the regular season.
Rovers’ boss, however, stopped short of completely ruling him out of the trip to Griffin Park.
Flynn said: “Andy’s got a nine centimetre tear in the lower part of his hamstring.
“I would say that’s probably him out for the season.
“He’s come in and played really well over the last few weeks, so it’s a blow for us.
“He’s a quick healer though, so there may be a very slight chance for Brentford. Hopefully there is.”
Rovers’ right back curse, which saw Paul Quinn rule himself out of the rest of the season last week, saw James Husband slot in at that position at Crewe.
“James has come in and done very well for us,” said Flynn.
“He is very mature for his years.
“If you asked him at the start of the season how many games he’d like to start, he’d have been delighted with ten, but he must be nearer twice that amount.
“In that sense he’s had a really good season.”
Flynn is more hopeful that Gary Woods (back) will recover in time for Saturday.
