Epworth Colts were hit by a Park Tigers treble in the second half.

The visitors, second in the league, to Carrside were keen to keep the pressure on top of the table Bottesford Excelsior and so the Colts were under no illusions of the task ahead.

Colts started very brightly with Callum Marsh and Tom Collier causing the visitors problems but were unable to get the break through.

With Colts applying all of the early pressure, the Tigers managed to break away and win a corner and as the Colts’ defence struggled to deal with the ensuing cross, the Tigers headed against the bar before pouncing on the loose ball, giving Jack Lifsey in goal no chance.

Colts responded admirably and continued to try and play football. With the first half drawing to a close, Collier was played in behind the Tigers’ defence only to see his shot drift just past the post.

Colts went into the half 1-0 down, however, were encouraged by a strong performance.

Epworth began well after the break with Mitchel Jenkinson latching on to a loose ball and driving the ball goalwards only to see the Tigers keeper pull off a good save.

Again it was the Tigers who took advantage of some poor Colts defending to grab their second.

Despite the further setback, Colts continued to press and had several opportunities in front of goal however the Tigers were hungry for more goals, netting twice for a 4-0 scoreline.

Players of the match went to Rhys Wilkinson and Billy Scott.
