WESTWOODSIDE Rangers were unable to build on their league win over Bawtry Town as they went down to South Kirkby on Saturday.

Rangers, who snatched a crucial 4-3 win over Bawtry’s second string last weekend thanks to Aiden Smith’s last-minute winner, slipped to 11th in Division One of the Doncaster Senior League after a crushing 7-2 defeat to South Kirkby Town.

Westwoodside Rangers, whose scorers were Declan Bacon and Jordan Northcliffe, are two points clear of bottom clubs Swinton Station Athletic and Scawthorpe Scorpions.

Victory could propel the side up to sixth place in the hard-fought league with Denaby Main comfortably occupying the summit.

Rangers are back in league action this weekend and will be preparing to get their survival campaign back on track with a home tie against ISG Doncaster today.

The match will be held at Westwoodside’s Playing Fields in Akeferry Road. Kick-off is 2.30pm.
