Doncaster Rovers: Nathan Tyson labels Notts County clash as ‘must-win’

For Nathan Tyson, there are no bones about it – tonight’s clash with Notts County is ‘must-win’ for Rovers.

Victory in tonight’s rearranged game at the Keepmoat would take Rovers into the League One play-off places for the first time since August.

Defeat would send visitors County sixth instead.

Striker Tyson has dismissed the usual talk of tonight’s match being ‘just another game’ as he emphasised the importance of victory.

But he said his team mates must take a relaxed approach to the game and focus on what they have been doing well recently.

“It’s a must-win for us,” Tyson told the Star.

“We’ve got to put the pressure on ourselves but we’ve got to be relaxed as well. We’ve got to focus on what we’ve done before to get ourselves into this position.

“If we beat Notts County we find ourselves in a good place where we need to be.

“It’s going to be an exciting game and we’re going to have to treat it slightly differently to other games we have played this season.

“That’s just with the importance of catching everyone.

“It’s a game in hand. It’s a chance for us to get where we need to be.

“We didn’t start off great and to have the opportunity to jump into the play-offs that speaks for itself.

“We have to go into the game with a very positive frame of mind.”

Tyson – for whom a niggling injury prevented him from starting Saturday’s 1-0 win over Barnsley – is looking forward to a reunion with County, where he spent the last two months of last season on loan.

But he says he will not be in a generous mood tonight, and neither will Rovers.

He said: “I had a great time there and it was great to be part of a thrilling end to the season with them just staying up.

“I’m pleased Shaun Derry and the team are doing well.

“It’s just unfortunate for them that they’ve got to come here.

“It won’t be easy for them to get anything out of the game.”

County ended a six game winless run by beating Crewe 2-1 on Saturday.
