Clive Griffiths is targeting two more league wins before Christmas to all but secure the club’s Championship status.

Doncaster Knights host second-bottom Moseley on Saturday (2.30pm).

Sandwiched either side of their remaining trio of B&I Cup games, Knights also face London Scottish and Nottingham before the turn of the year.

And Welshman Griffiths has laid down the gauntlet to his players to come up with two wins from three - and make 2015 a happy new year.

“We face a very tricky run in between now and the New Year but I know that this team will fight for every minute,” said Doncaster’s director of rugby.

“We have three huge league games coming up.

“If we return with two wins then we can relax and look forward to playing some good footy after Christmas.”

Griffiths, meanwhile, waxed lyrical about his side’s defensive effort in Friday’s 24-12 defeat at big-spending Bristol.

He said: “Nobody gave us a cat in hell’s chance before kicked off. We went in 12-10 up at half time and had the try we scored just after the half been given, who knows what could have happened?

“The boys are in no way disheartened. It was a morale-boosting result if anything.

“There was a lot that went against us in the second half that was out of our control.

“We defended superbly. I think out of ten driving mauls in our five metre they only manage to convert one, which against a side of Bristol’s stature and international pedigree is impressive on our part.”
