Doncaster RLFC chief executive Carl Hall insists the Keepmoat Stadium pitch will hold up, after it was confirmed Sheffield Eagles will move into the venue next year.
The Eagles will be based in Doncaster for the 2015 season while their Olympic Legacy Park is under construction.
Their matches will become part of double-headers on Sunday afternoons throughout the season, with Dons games kicking off at 2pm and Eagles following on at 4:15pm.
Hall said: “We were approached by Sheffield about the possibility of a ground share and have spent a vast amount of time considering the proposal.
“Our main concern was ensuring that the pitch wouldn’t suffer from the extra matches taking place.
“Having taken advice from some of the top people in grounds maintenance, we’ve been assured that it will not.”
He added: “We’re hopeful that this agreement can help generate new fans of the sport locally.”
