Paul Dickov is attempting to bolster his squad and has not ruled out adding a new face in time for tonight’s visit of Leyton Orient.
The Scot said very bluntly at his pre-match press conference yesterday that his patience had snapped following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Fleetwood Town - a result that left Rovers two points off the League One drop zone and still without back-to-back league wins this season.
Dickov was also asked whether his small squad was a factor behind Rovers’ hit and miss form and in reponse he revealed he is talking to two players about a potential switch to Doncaster.
“A little bit,” Dickov replied. “It’s something we’re trying to sort out at the minute.
“Whether it will be done in time [for tonight], I don’t know.
“We need to get at least one in - and possibly somebody who is a bit more of a leader than what we’ve got in the changing room at the minute. Until it’s done I wouldn’t like to say much more.
“We’re in talks with a couple of players but there’s a long way to go. Does the club want to let them out? Does the player want to come? Does the agent want them to come? There’s still a lot of factors to take into account.”
Dickov promised changes tonight - with Liam Wakefield, Dean Furman, Kyle Bennett and Curtis Main all in contention to start.
