Clive Griffiths has shuffled his pack for today’s trip to Welsh Premiership outift Cross Keys in the British & Irish Cup - and urged Doncaster’s fresh faces to take their chance.
Will Foden, who will make his first competitive start since suffering a potentially career-ending knee injury a year ago, is among several new starters.
New signings Andy Bulumakau and Tyler Hotson are also handed the chance to impress in the Pool 4 opener.
Griffiths said: “I have made a few changes for this week but there is only the width of a piece of paper between some of the players in certain positions.
““Last Saturday [against Cornish Pirates] some lads didn’t perform and the boys that are coming in have an opportunity to stake their claim.
“It isn’t just a case of playing in the B&I Cup for the lads that have come in, it is the B&I and beyond.
“They will get a chance over these next few weeks and then selection for the Bristol game on November 7 will be made on the back of that.
“Positions are there to be played for and the players are under no illusions of what is expected.”
He added: ““We know that it is going to be a tough trip to Cross Keys, there is a slope on the pitch and there will be an intense atmosphere.
“I have played there myself with Llanelli, it is historically a very tough place to get a win and that is still the case.
“They love the cup competitions and have done well in this tournament in the past.
“They have played some really expansive rugby lately and we will have to be on our metal to get the result.””
