Rob Jones could face a further month on the sidelines following a knee operation.

The Rovers centre back has been blighted by injuries and now faces even more time out, his manager Paul Dickov has admitted.

“Unfortunately Rob Jones has gone in for a little operation on his knee,” the Scotsman said.

“He tried to do some running the other day and the knee has swollen up again, there’s a little bit of fluid in there.

“We’re hopeful it’s not going to be too bad and not going to be too long but it’s something we need to get checked out.

“He had a cyst stuck at the back of his knee that had leaked some fluid out of it that was causing him the problem, we thought that had drained away a little bit until he went for a 20 minute run the other day and there was quite a bit of fluid.

“It’s just as a precaution more than anything because he did the injury two or three weeks ago, what we can’t afford to do is give him another two or three weeks rest and let it settle down for it to happen again.”

Dickov added: “All the signs are maybe two to four weeks.”
