Bucky’s Blog: Start strong and we’ll keep run going

It was a great game against Chesterfield, I really thought that Donny deserved the win.

People say we were hanging on but for me it was the best performance of the season as a whole.

Chesterfield are a good unit and will be up there but we played some good football and scored some good goals.

In relation to the manager, I think he deserves a bit of luck. I think we got that against Chesterfield.

I like Paul Dickov, he’s a good talker and he’s got the experience in there with him in the shape of Brian Horton.

We seem to play better against better teams and I wonder sometimes if that is psychological because they were well up for it last Saturday.

With Walsall, no disrespect, but you’re playing one of the ‘smaller sides’ in the division.

I believe it’s all on how you start the game.

If you start well, it breeds confidence, let’s hope we can go on a run now and get that confidence.

Kyle Bennett looks outstanding, there were a couple of moments last week where he was cutting people open and I think that’s down to the manager giving him more freedom.

Walsall is quite a closed, intimidating ground so it’s important not to lose anything in the first 20 minutes - don’t let the home side enthuse the crowd.

Donny are at their best on the counter attack when teams are trying to pick us off. Players like Nathan Tyson cause all sorts of problems with their pace.

If we can pressure the home team and make them open up, they’ll leave doors open.

If you’ve got good enough players you’ll win matches, even if you’re operating on the counter. I think we can win it 2-1.
