The winner of the Isle of Axholme Bowls League’s Singles final already has eyes on competing in next year’s competition.
Robin Aconley was recently crowned singles winner following a 21-12 victory over his Belton Bowls Club captain Derek Tate.
Aconley only joined Belton Bowls Club four years ago and after competing in different leagues and knockout competitions, he was delighted with the Singles win.
“After five separate games, I qualified for the final where we played on Epworth Bowling Green earlier this month,” said Aconley.
“Fortunately I won.
“I certainly hope to enter the competition next year.”
Retired Aconley boasts a strong sporting background since being a runner during his 34 years working for the police service in London and Yorkshire.
He has run for the British Police on several occasions in various competitions.
As well as running, Aconley enjoys mountaineering. This sport has seen him climb Mount Blanc in the Alps, Africa’s Kilimanjaro and five trips to Nepal climbing in the Himalayas.
