Tyson Lewis bagged himself a hat-trick of tries as Doncaster Knights rounded off their pre-season preparations in solid fashion with a 41-14 win at Tynedale.
Lewis, last season’s top try scorer in National One, touched down twice in the opening 14 minutes as Doncaster made a blistering start in Corbridge.
Mat Clark got the ball rolling after just three minutes and, thanks to Tyson’s double, the Knights led 19-0 after the first quarter hour.
Ben Frankland went over for the hosts to reduce the deficit but tries either side of the interval from Latu Makaafi and Clark gave the visitors a comfortable 31-7 advantage.
From a driving maul, Frankland again touched down for Tyendale and Gavin Beasley again added the conversion.
But Doncaster had the last say as first George Tressider crossed the line before Lewis completed his hat trick.
Knights begin their Championship campaign at home to Plymouth Albion on Saturday (2.30pm).
