After last week’s good win the visitors were looking for repeat from this match. The opening frame saw Dave Culshaw out played by a triumphant Billy Whitehurst. With breaks of 20 and 31, Billy won 8–70.
John Mitchell could not match Mally Robson who won 24–63. Eric Fairham had a closer game but he also lost to Tony Lanni 36–57. Stuart France lost a frame that was littered by mistakes which Derrick Jennings won 24–63. The last frame was an extremely long game and Dennis Robinson won this marathon against Brian Blaydon 48–16.
Askern Welfare 2 Scawthorpe Social 3
The home team did not have a good start in this match as Denis Clayton lost to Les Seymour 47–60. Eric Law levelled the match with his win over Barry Deakin 63–21.
Ade Kaye could not overcome Jim Seymour and was beaten 27–63. Derrick Honybone lost out in a thrilling black ball game against Pat McHale 39–48.
Alan Watson salvaged the last point in a tight frame with Barry Deakin who had a bad day 48–40.

The home team were the first out of the blocks when Rob Laver beat Alan Leedale in a black ball game 48–39. Jimmy Wynne lost out in a close game with Ron Clarke 35–45.
Graham Archer also lost in a black ball game to Alan Bacon 43–48. Malc Rushby levelled the match when he beat Tony Rowel 54–44. The deciding frame was a high-scoring affair which Roy Harthill won against Roy Lee (74-50) who has now lost his last four games.
Woodlands Rhinos 1 Bentley Top Club 4
Alan Tasker could not stop the rejuvenated Alf Hinsley, 10–52. Wilf Coulter was no match for Malc Slack 13–40. Paul Grace lost a black ball game against Jim Richardson 35–41.
Bob Buxton was up against it as he lost to Joe King 28–70. Paul Teague salvaged a point for the home team when he beat Jack Richardson 41–11.
Bentley West End 4 Rostholme Social 1
The home team were requiring a good win from this match to leap-frog the Trades Club. Things did not go to plan in the opening frame as the potting machine Willy Moore was beaten by Ken Rutley 46–53.
John Cooper brought the home team level when he beat Tommy Pearce 58–34. Dave Holland put the home team in front with his victory over Richie Orton 55–12. John McWilliams secured the points with two 22 breaks on his way to beating Tony Arthur 71–15. It was birthday boy John Cunningham who took the last frame against Roy Buxton 49–20.

This was a match between the top and bottom teams. Tommy Collins started the home team’s account with a resounding win against Ray Adams, 80–19.
Pete Spencer followed suit with his win over Derrick Betts 74–21. Baz Deakes won a closer game against Gordon Richardson 48–24. Henry Morris was back to his winning ways with triumphant win over Albert Bingham 84–15. Phil Spencer was not at his best but it was still good enough to beat Albert Bingham again 59–27.
Trades Club 1 White Hart Askern 4
Can the home team bounce back from last week’s whitewash? A good result was a must. The opening frame did not start well for the home team as Brian Hoole lost to Stan Munday 39–72.
Thing did not get any better in the next frame when Alan Dykes lost again this time to Terry Green 39–67. It must get better in the next frame as Laurance Torn went to the table but he lost two on the bounce when he went up against Ian Humble 43–53. Eric Bint salvaged a point for the home team when he beat Maurice Ball 51–40. Could Dave Steer restore some credibility? Not from this frame as he also lost to Sock Armstrong 34–45.
Catholic Club 4 Hyde Park Warriors 1
The opening frame was a good win for Charlie Morgan as he beat Trevor Parker 63–36. Brian Thompson did not do so well when he lost to Fran Crusack 31–51.
Phil Mason won a close game with Phil Rushton 64–54. Bill Collinson also won a close encounter against Ian Samways 61–52. John Parkinson took the last frame when he beat Clive Bulbeck 61–34.
