Paul Dickov has drawn up wishlists of “three or four players” in every position he intends to strengthen.
Rovers’ boss must wait for ongoing takeover talks with John Ryan and Louis Tomlinson to reach a conclusion before any new playing contracts are sanctioned.
But Dickov reassured fans this week that the recruitment wheels are very much in motion - and he is covering all bases.
The Scot is set to go for quality over quantity this summer and is likely to pay particular attention to strengthening his strikeforce, defensive ranks and also goalkeeping options.
A creative midfielder is also likely to be high up on his list of priorities.
Like last summer, Dickov again finds himself in a position in which he could potentially miss out on his top targets, due to ongoing ownership uncertainty.
That issue also leaves a question mark next to the precise budget he will have at his disposal.
So Dickov is leaving nothing to chance, by drawing up lists of several possible targets in each position.
“You can’t just have one player per position you’ve targeted,” Dickov said.
“You have to have three or four because you’re not going to get every one that you go for.
“And it’s important talks are done very quickly with the players that you’ve targeted.
“When we get back for pre season we’ll assess the sort of squad we’ve got and where we want to go.”
