Jess Sigsworth has headed out to Sweden following selection for England’s under-23s.
The Auckley forward has been drafted into Mo Marley’s Young Lionesses’ squad for their Nordic Tournament which will see England take on host nation Sweden on Monday before Norway two days later.
Sigsworth - who has been a regular in England’s youth set-up - has made a blistering start for the Belles’ 2014 campaign, helping to drive the side to the top of FAWSL2 thanks to an unblemished record from their opening five matches.
On her England achievements, the 19-year-old said: “It feels amazing. It’s always an honour to represent your country, and to be selected is showing your hard work is being recognised.”
Speaking of training with the national side, she added: “It’s slightly different to representing your club. When we’ve got games we just concentrate on a game plan, and just do that in training.”
Meanwhile, Belles teenagers Ashleigh Mills and Jemma Purfield joined England U19s for training last month.
n Belles get their FAWSL2 campaign back underway on June 29 away to Millwall Lionesses following the league’s summer break.
