Doncaster Athletic Club stage the first of their three big races they are promoting in 2014 – the Sandall Beat 10k - on Wednesday night (June 11).
“We’re looking at a field of around 250 runners,” said club chairman Kev Lincoln.
“It has proved a popular race with both local runners and those from further afield since we first introduced it several years ago.
“It’s a fairly easy flat course and it’s unusual in that it incorporates running along the edge of Doncaster Knights’ Castle Park complex and two laps in the wood.
“A lot of unattached runners seem to like it and quite a few of them use the race for a bit of fitness.
“It is also a very safe race and one that is easier to marshal than a typical road race because, apart from a couple of hundred yards on a stretch of pavement, it is all off road.”
The race, which starts at 7.30pm, is preceded by a mile fun run at 7pm. Entries for both races will be taken on the night but people are advised to check in as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
n The club’s second Doncaster Pacers course has got off to a flying start.
“We’ve got over 40 people on the course which is more than double the numbers on the first one,” said coach Martin James.
