Cricket: Hoare’s half century reels in Outcasts win over Fishlake

Oliver Hoare’s half century helped Crowle Outcasts’ midweek side on their way to a cup win and semi-final spot following victory over Doncaster side Fishlake.

SNAITH LEAGUE SHIELD 1ST ROUND

There was a close finish in the game between Outcasts and Fishlake with the Isle side winning by just eight runs.

Hoare hit 57 not out and Josh Bramhill 24 for the Priorymen before Matthew Teal, in particular, bowled well when picking up 3 for 14 as Fishlake were held at bay, finishing on 112 for 7.

Thorne Colliery will be Outcasts next opponents following their 60 runs victory over Howden.

Ash Langdale made 64 not out and Andy Cutts was 51 not out as Thorne racked up 134 for 1 before reducing Howden to 74 for 9.

Matt Milburn hit 37 of those as Adam Murray took 4 for 4.

Trophy holders Goole Town were awarded their tie against Airmyn who were unable to raise a side which means they will play hosts to Askern Welfare on June 23 in the other semi-final.

ARTHUR BRANT TROPHY

Sykehouse won a thriller at Hirst Courtney by just six runs - Mick Gallagher top scoring with 36 not out in the Sykehouse total of 109 for 6 before Hirst were held to 103 for 6 - Rich hitting 32 for the side.

There were only 12 runs separating Burn and Eggborough in another close-run tie - Burn scoring 120 for 5 then seeing Eggborough reply with 108 for 6 to set up a Sykehouse v Burn semi-final.

Chris Welburn was in top form for Pollington, hitting 73 in their total of 132 for 7 before being out to the final delivery of the innings.

Steve Lawson added 20 important runs as Wilson took 2 for 3 and Worley 2 for 13 for Drax then Phil Vickers replied with 41 not out as Drax made 101 for 8 - some 31 runs shy of their target.

Pollington must wait to see who they meet in the semi-finals as Carlton Towers v Hensall is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10.
