Paul Dickov says he would be worried if his players were not nervous tomorrow at Leicester.

Rovers head to the King Power Stadium needing to at least match Birmingham’s result at Bolton to survive.

But the Rovers boss has backed his players to channel their nerves in the right way in their decisive clash.

“I don’t think nerves are a bad thing,” Dickov said.

“As a player and now as a manager, I get worried if I’m not at least a little bit nervous before a game.

“I think if people say they don’t get nervous, they’re lying. It shows a human side.

“There will be nerves flying around but as long as they’re translated in a positive way, that’s fine.”

Dickov has placed a great deal of emphasis on his players being ‘mentally fit’ for the exertions ahead this weekend.

He said: “The important thing for me as manager was to make sure they were only looking ahead to the Leicester game.

“We didn’t want them dwelling on the Reading defeat or anything else that had come before.

“We can’t change what has happened over the last 45 games, no one can.

“Our destiny is our own hands and we’ve got to make sure we do it.

“We wanted to make sure the boys were mentally flying.

“We wanted to take the pressure off them this week and I think we’ve done that.

“The mood in the camp has been very good this week and we’re ready.”
