Round-up: Gainsborough & District Sunday League

The Trinity Trophy final between MUSC and White Horse had everything that is good about local football in it, writes Stephen Lilley.

Having taken an early two-goal lead, MUSC were pegged back right on half time when a penalty saw White Horse close the gap to a single goal.

A real end-to-end match saw the teams unable to be separated at the final whistle with the scoreline 3-3.

Extra time ensued with both teams netting once more before a very late White Hose winner snatched the Trophy by the narrowest of margins.

Following that good news, we come to some bad as FS Clumber announced their resignation from the league.

We can only express sorrow that it has come to this for a club that has been so successful in recent seasons.

Weekend and midweek results means we now know who the champions are in all three divisions:

Division One: MUSC

Division Two: Real Canutes Over 30s

Division Three: Notts Diagonals

Congratulations to all three teams.

With just two Sundays left in the season, it is now a case of who finishes as runner-up in each division.

In the first division it is between Real Canutes and White Horse. In Division Two BFC Clumber, Liberal Branch and King & Miller are all battling it out whilst in Division Three Ship Inn Morton and Morton FC are in contention.
