Epworth Town will be aiming for back-to-back league wins to help them move on from their cup final disappointment.

League champions College Wanderers took the Carousel Hospital Cup last week following a 2-0 success over Town.

Epworth were rocked following injuries to captain Greg Carroll, Lee Kirk and Lee Wood as they finished with ten players.

However, player-boss Leigh Jenkinson said they had no excuses.

“We weren’t up to scratch, College were the better team and we have to accept that,” he said.

“We’re disappointed but College deserved it, we didn’t create enough.

“The injuries didn’t help but we can’t have any complaints with the score.”

Two days after the final at Brumby Hall, Epworth overcame Swinefleet Juniors in TSW Printers Scunthorpe & District’s Division One as goals from Lewis Lightburn, Rich Haynes and Gary Moment netted a 3-2 success.

This Saturday, Town host New Holland Villa at Carrside, 3pm, in a bid for a second successive league victory to help in their pursuit of a runners-up spot.
