The Knights may be eight points clear at the top of National One but Clive Griffiths is not comfortable sitting on such a cushion.

Griffiths has warned his men that with five games remaining promotion is still in doubt and those eight points could vanish in a flash.

“It’s a cushion but it’s not a very comfortable one,” Griffiths said.

“If we were at this stage with a 12-point lead or something like that, then we could start to feel a bit comfortable.

“But with five points available from each game, the advantage could be gone before you know it, especially with us playing Rosslyn next week.

“We’ve got to win four of the last five games to make sure of it. Eighteen points would do it for us.”

With an affective title decider at Rosslyn Park coming next weekend, Griffiths is encouraging his men not to look past Saturday’s visit of Old Albanian to Castle Park.

The director of rugby says finishing the season with a perfect home record is a must if the Knights are to hold on to top spot.

He said: “We’ve got two games left at home and the perfect ten points is a must.

“Every team sets out to win all their home games but it would be a great achievement to do that.

“We’ve been behind the black ball a few times at home this season but we’ve recovered to get the win.

“It’s what we need. Winning the last two would put us in a great position.”

Griffiths is expecting a game of possession rugby against Old Albanian, who have won four of their last five matches.

He said: “They will not have wanted the break last weekend as much as we didn’t because they’d got a bit of momentum as well.

“They like to spread the ball about and keep it in play as much as possible.

“We’re more than capable of playing that type of game as well so it should be an interesting one.”

Fly half Paul Roberts is set to see a specialist after a scan on his knee but Mat Clark is expected to be fit after suffering a bang to his knee.

Santiago Sodini is struggling with a hamstring strain.
