David Mirfin’s late winner saw Scunthorpe United claim a 3-2 win at Accrington Stanley - with manager Russ Wilcox in no doubt just how valuable those three points are.
The win sees the Iron stretch their unbeaten run to 15 games and level on points with leaders Chesterfield as they look to bounce straight back into League One.
On the vital victory, Wilcox said: “It puts pressure on the other teams around us.
“What we’ve done now is our bit and now it is down to them. We’re hoping we get favours from one or two, but if we don’t, we don’t. The main part is we’ve done our job.”
Lee Molyneux scored the opener before Peter Murphy’s deflected shot put the hosts 2-0 up. Sam Winnall reduced the deficit for before Hakeeb Adelakun restored parity.
Mirfin then headed home in the last minute.
