GRAHAM Briggs was crowned 2012 Elite Circuit Series champion in Sheffield on Wednesday night.
The Rossington rider went into the final race of the series with an unassailable 170-point lead at the top of the leaderboard.
Briggs has been in sensational form this season and won three out of the first four Elite Series races to wrap up the title last week.
The 28-year-old won the Brighouse, Stafford GP and Wales Open legs, while also finishing second at the Stockton Festival of Cycling.
Briggs again impressed at Colne last Wednesday where he and teammate Russell Hampton were in a class of their own.
The Raleigh GAC pair occupied the top two positions in the fifth meeting of the series.
After surging clear of the field, the Doncaster man stood up on the home straight and allowed Hampton to claim victory.
Briggs had to settle for fifth place in the penultimate race of the series at Beverley on Friday evening but went into the event knowing he had already won the title.
After the race at Colne, Briggs said: “Raleigh are doing well at the moment.
“We have the confidence and we are taking that to each race.
“We are gelling as a team.
“You can’t stop us at the moment.
“I’m pleased that Russ won, he’s helped me so much this year, especially in the Premier Calendar races and the National Road Race.”
Briggs, also a former National Circuit Race champion, switched to Team Raleigh from Rapha Condor for the 2012 season.
