Round-up: Epworth relinquish top spot

Epworth Town Reserves had their all-Isle tie with Luddington postponed - and East Drayton took full advantage to knock the league leaders off the top of the table.

Neil Jones’ men found themselves off the top-spot for the first time in weeks after their TSW Printers Scunthorpe & District Saturday League tie was called off due to the weather.

Here is Paul Birkitt’s round-up of the latest round of league fixtures:

Division One

Two goals from Rich Haynes and one each for Gary Moment & James Bingham saw Epworth Town beat Limestone Rangers 4–0 to move up to fourth place.

A hat trick from O’Callaghan two from Cassidy one from McIntosh & an own goal saw College Wanderers move a point clear at the top by beating Crosby Colts 7–0.

New Holland Villa moved into second spot with a 2–1 win over Messingham Juniors, Craig Smith scoring both goals for the winners with Bates replying.

Barnetby United remain rooted to the bottom of the table after losing 3–1 to Scotter United. Blendell scored for Barnetby with Steve Bradley, George MacIntosh & Ben Taylor Scotter’s marksmen.

Division Two

League Leaders Brumby were 5–0 winners against second-placed Scunthonians Reserves to open up a four point gap at the top. Wilson & two each from Dent and Grimbleby were Brumby’s scorers.

Goals from Prendergast, Bailey & Barratt saw Chaplins move upto third in the table with a 3–0 win over College Wanderers Reserves.

A hat trick from Danny Brothwell along with a further goal from Ben Chafer was not enough for Bottesford Town Reserves as they lost 5–4 to Ashby ROAB. Blake netted a hat-trick and Barley and Broughton scored one each for Ashby.

Two goals from J Pinder & one from O Steinken for Scotter United Reserves still saw them lose 4–3 to Crosby Colts Reserves. A Martyn Keech hat-trick and one from Steve Bingham came for Crosby Colts Reserves.

Division Three

With league leaders Epworth Town Reserves game postponed, East Drayton took advantage to move two points clear at the top of the division with a 5–1 win over Santon. Two goals for Ryan Reccia and one each for Scott Bartle, Zac Odley & Liam Wallwork settled it as Grix netted for Santon.

A hat-trick from Jake Parker, two each from Lloyd Ward & Shaun Clark and one from Robbie Glentworth saw Broughton Colts be the league’s top scorers on the day, beating Crosby Colts Juniors 8-1. L Richardson scored a consolation.

Two goals from Matthew Waudby and one from B Waudby saw Bruce FC beat Six Bells 3–2 to move into third place. Dave Morris & Dan Grant scored for Six Bells.
