We take a brief look at Paul Cooke’s first new signings as Dons head coach.
NEV MORRISON
Not so much a new face as much a returning one as the versatile Morrison makes his comeback to the Dons after a two and a half year absence.
Morrison made a big impact while on loan at the club in 2011 from Hull FC, scoring ten tries from 16 appearances.
He spent the last two seasons on Sheffield Eagles’ books, though he was loaned out to York last season.
The 23-year-old can play on the wing or as a centre.
DAVE SCOTT
Another returnee, though supporters will not have to delve too deep into the memory banks to recall winger Scott.
The 20-year-old former Hull KR youngster made a major impact during two loan spells at the Dons from Featherstone last season.
Scotland international Scott scored seven tries in eight appearances for the Dons and slotted over 26 goals.
DANNY NICKLAS
The Hull theme continues with the arrival of former FC stand-off Nicklas who has ten Super League appearances under his belt.
The 22-year-old’s top flight career was curtailed by a cruciate knee ligament injury in 2011.
Nicklas started last year on dual registration at York but departed in May in the hope of securing a deal with Hull KR.
He turned out for Gateshead Thunder and Gloucestershire All Golds before the end of the season.
SCOTT SPAVEN
Another former Dons player and another man who has plied his trade on the banks of the Humber, Spaven is back at the Keepmoat after a two year absence.
The 23-year-old scored nine tries, 85 goals and a drop goal in 27 appearances for the Dons in the 2011 Championship One campaign.
Spaven primarily operates at scrum half but can play hooker. He spent the early part of last season with Dewsbury Rams before closing the campaign with West Hull.
LIAM WELHAM
Centre Welham arrives from relegated Hunslet where he scored nine tries in 25 appearances last term, including two tries in both the home and away clashes with the Dons.
The 24-year-old represented England at junior level. He has been on the books of both the big two Hull clubs as well as Featherstone and Dewsbury.
ANDY WARD AND RICHARD WILKINSON
Hull FC youngsters Ward and Wilkinson will be looking for senior experience with the Dons this season.
Ward, 19, is a second row while 20-year-old Wilkinson operates at stand-off.
