TEAM NEWS: Meite in contention for Doncaster debut at Blackburn

Abdoulaye Meite is in contention to make his Doncaster debut at Ewood Park tomorrow.

The 33-year-old centre back signed a deal until the end of the season yesterday following a successful trial period, adding experience and competition for places at the back.

He is likely to start on the bench if Bongani Khumalo has recovered from the knee injury that kept him out of the festive fixtures.

But boss Paul Dickov, who will switch Paul Quinn back to right back, might be tempted to take teenager Luke McCullough out of the firing line and hand Meite a start.

James Husband is breathing down the neck of loanee left back Enda Stevens after making an impressive return for the reserves against York in midweek.

And Richie Wellens will hand Dickov another boost by returning to the engine room, alongside Dean Furman, after agreeing an 18-month contract extension earlier this week.

Chris Brown will lead the attack - and could have a new strike partner if Dickov gets his way in the transfer market.

If not, Harry Forrester is a shoe-in to play just behind Brown after impressing as a second half substitute in Saturday’s otherwise abject defeat to Stevenage.

Mark Duffy, David Cotterill and the fit-again James Coppinger will battle it out for the wide roles.

Midfielder Paul Keegan remains sidelined but could return to the fold sooner than expected after joining in training yesterday.

Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer must decide whether to stick with Paul Robinson, who returned from 13 months out through illness in Rovers’ 1-1 FA Cup draw with Manchester City at the weekend, or bring back Simon Eastwood.

Sought after striker Jordan Rhodes is almost certain to be recalled to the starting line-up after he was rested against the Blues.
