Here’s the latest round-up of action from Doncaster’s mini and junior sides:
Doncaster U13 12 Dronfield U13 5
Doncaster extended their unbeaten run to three games with victory over Dronfield at Castle Park.
The home side quickly put pressure on the Dronfield defence and it paid off mid-way through the first half when Ben Rivers went over for the opening try and Joe Barnes converted.
Dronfield battled back in the second half and managed a well earned try in the corner but were unable to convert.
A couple of good breaks by Dronfield were disrupted by good defensive work by Doncaster.
The home side sealed victory in the closing stages when the ball was pushed out to the wing and Joe Barnes crossed the line.
The team now take a well earned break before travelling to Sheffield on January 5.
Old Rishworthians U14 5 Doncaster U14 33
The under 14 side ended 2013 with an emphatic victory over Old Rishworthians.
Both sides played some good rugby in muddy conditions but the speed and skill of Doncaster’s back line secured the victory with some ease.
The side are hoping to improve their defence in 2014 - and hope to play more games at Castle Park after playing just six on home soil during the last 12 months.
