Ruth Allison bagged a brace as Epworth Girls FC put in a battling display against Park Tigers.

The trip to Scunthorpe saw Epworth’s under-14s enjoy a lot of the possession for large spells of the first half.

However, Tigers proved clinical in front of goal as they raced into a 2-0 lead, against the run of play, before Allison’s well-taken reply.

Park went into the interval at 4-1 in the South Humber League match but came up against a tougher defence after the restart.

Despite Allison’s second of the game, Epworth were unable to prevent two further goals from Tigers as they took home the three points in the 6-2 scoreline.

Epworth manager Nolan Elliott, who hailed stand-in coach for the match Paul Milligan and the support from the spectators, said: “The team played with determination and positive attitude. The home game will be one to look forward to.”
