BMX star Grant Hill is facing a year out with a serious knee injury - but is still confident he can reach the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

The 20-year-old, from Balby, is recovering from cruciate knee ligament surgery following a bad crash in September.

However, Team GB Academy prospect Hill says the injury won’t harm his chances of reaching the Olympics.

“By this time next year I should be back on a bike. As long as I get back for the 2014/15 season, I’ll still have plenty of time to try and force my way in.”

Hill was placed second in the National Series before crashing out of the competition, ending the season in fifth.

He was placed 22nd in this year’s World Cup time trials.

To help him on the road to recovery, Mobility Scooters have leant Hill a helping hand.

“I’d really like to thank Dave Glover for his support,” said Hill.

“He’s generously leant me a mobility scooter to help me get around, it’s much appreciated.”
